How it works: Vegawatt™ WVO Fuel Power System

A Vegawatt™ system contains more than just power generation equipment. 
It includes a turn-key waste vegetable oil (WVO) refinery, automatically transforming the darkest, nastiest used cooking oil into fuel appropriate for power generation.

Located On-Site Outside

The unit, which is about the size of a refrigerator, is placed outside the building the same way central air conditioning units often are. It hooks up through one electrical cable to the electric system. There is also a hot water feed and return system. Your hot water heater won’t have to work as hard now because the water has already been partially heated by the system.

Easily Integrates Into Electrical Panel

Our integrated industrial compression-ignition engine produces heat and hot water for use directly by the restaurant. Electrically, the system integrates into a restaurant in the same way as a solar electric panel, which makes local licensing and permitting easy. Thermally, the system provides energy to the restaurant to raise the temperature of water that will be used in the hot water system.

Supplemental Power At Your Door

The Vegawatt™ is a supplemental system. We tie into the existing electricity and hot water systems and provide additional energy. Any energy provided by the Vegawatt™ does not need to be purchased from the local electric or gas utilities.

Produces 10% to 25% Of Your Power

No, we can’t provide all the electricity and hot water needed to power a restaurant. Our goal is to capture the most energy possible from the oil that a foodservice location produces. Typically we produce 10% to 25% of the electricity needed by a restaurant.

Just Pour In Your Used Cooking Oil

Used cooking oil from your restaurant is deposited into the Vegawatt™ in the same way your restaurant currently deposits your waste vegetable oil into your oil barrel or dumpster. Our units are adaptable to every procedure from tying into an automated oil change system to accommodating a 10-gallon stock pot.

Automated 4-Stage Cleaning Process

Your used cooking oil undergoes an automated 4-stage cleaning process. This patent pending process creates a very clean fuel while using no additional energy input.

No, It’s Not Biodiesel

We don’t make biodiesel. Biodiesel requires the use of caustic chemicals and fossil fuel products (generally methanol and lye) and produces a significant proportion of glycerol, a liquid byproduct that needs to be removed from the process.
